The Community Music School offers a variety of music programs just for YOU!  

Private lessons are available on a variety of woodwind, brass, keyboard, percussion instruments, and voice, as well as, group piano lessons, the UNI Children’s Choir, the UNI New Horizons Band, and Camp Musicmania.  Children and adults are welcome!

The CMS staff includes professional music educators, performers, and UNI School of Music students (We love music and we live music!). Classes and lessons are offered year-round for students of all ages and abilities. All CMS events are held on the UNI campus in the UNI School of Music facilities and other appropriate area community sites in Cedar Falls and Waterloo, IA.

The UNI Community Music School received full accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music, joining over 650 other accredited universities and institutions across the country. Fall Music Lesson Registration Open!

Lessons start August 30th! 

Individual lessons for woodwinds, brass, percussion, voice, and piano are offered on an individual basis for beginning to advanced students. Lessons are given year-round and students may start at any time during the year. Music theory basics and the development of technical and musical skills are included in lessons.

Students have the opportunity to sign up for weekly 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60- minute lessons to meet in-person or online!  Recitals and performance classes are available to students throughout the year.  A trial lesson, at no cost, is offered to new students after completing the online registration.

Our teaching staff includes professional teachers, and teachers who are currently pursuing a degree in music at the University of Northern Iowa.  Join the fun!
