Enrich Your Life with Music at UNI


The Community Music School offers a variety of music programs just for YOU!  

Private lessons are available on a variety of woodwind, brass, keyboard, percussion instruments, and voice, as well as, group piano lessons, the UNI Children’s Choir, the UNI New Horizons Band, and Camp Musicmania.  Children and adults are welcome!

The CMS staff includes professional music educators, performers, and UNI School of Music students (We love music and we live music!). Classes and lessons are offered year-round for students of all ages and abilities. All CMS events are held on the UNI campus in the UNI School of Music facilities and other appropriate area community sites in Cedar Falls and Waterloo, IA.

Camp Musicmania Registration is Open!

Camp ​Musicmania  (1st - 9th Grade)  

Camp Musicmania offers a variety of musical activities for all participants. Upper elementary and middle school ages will focus primarily on the presentation of a camp musical. All campers will be involved in music and movement activities [kids singing] , singing, dancing, drama, and art as well as the camp musical. Parents and friends will be invited to the final performance on the last day of camp. 

Campers need to bring a sack lunch each day.  Snacks are provided.

Private Lesson Fall Registration is Open!


Individual lessons for woodwinds, brass, percussion, voice, and piano are offered on an individual basis for beginning to advanced students. Lessons are given year-round and students may start at any GIRL PLAYING UKULELEtime during the year. Music theory basics and the development of technical and musical skills are included in lessons.

Students have the opportunity to sign up for weekly 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60- minute lessons.  Recitals and performance classes are available to students throughout the year.  A trial lesson, at no cost, is offered to new students after completing the online registration.
